So today is Labor Day. We’re all off from work and school, well most of us. My apologies go out to those who have to work. Anyhow, I’ve been spending the day cooking and preparing food for a BBQ with the family. Taking a break to post a quick recipe. It’s actually embarrassing how simple and fast this one is.
Well, I’m still recovering from my jaw surgery and unfortunately still on liquids only. I know what you’re thinking. And yes it is torture cooking all this food and not being able to eat it. But its therapy for me, and the food doesn’t go to waste. I enjoy cooking so much that I don’t mind the fact that I can’t eat it at the moment.
Since the surgery, I’ve had to come up with quick and easy recipes for smoothies, shakes, pureed soup, anything liquid. You name it. I’ve developed and picked up some helpful tips along the way that make the whole process easier to cope with. This recipe in particular is my go-to smoothie when I feel famished and need to eat — er, drink something right away.
In a blender throw in some frozen peaches and strawberries. I keep these on hand all the time, especially when the fruit isn’t in season. If you have fresh berries by all means use them.
